I am very sure this is just a pure coincidence. Shortly after I have watched a Batman parody where Bat was a heavy metal rocking, well, cape crusader, I saw this: a Batman Batmobile RAT2 Distortion Pedal. Never mind if you don’t see the connection between a heavy metal Batman and an electric guitar effect pedal (he was not the guitar, btw. I believe Nightwing was). All you have know is, it exists and it super cool.
Made by Sizzorfite Studio, a custom effect pedal maker (among other things), for music, marketing services and product design company Vinyl Venture Co., Batman Batmobile RAT2 Distortion Pedal AKA Ratmobile is an effect pedal in the form of a Batmobile. And why not? It looks it was made to be distortion pedal anyways, doesn’t it?
The pedal is a ProCo Rat2 incorporated into a 1:24 scale diecast Batman animated series Batmobile and therefore, apart from the obvious cool silhouette of a Batmobile in a solid diecast build, it shares the same schematic and analog circuitry as the original RAT.
Features include 1/4-inch input and output, headlight and taillights LEDs, stomp switch (on/off), true bypass, and 3-knob control for overdrive, level and tone. It is completely hand-wired and hand-built. Before you jump into it, you need to know that this couldn’t possibly be the original RAT; while it is kind of the RAT and share the same circuitry as mentioned earlier, it in fact has a clone circuit. So, it has new circuits in it and not some vintage stuff.
Now for the good news for those who are digging the Batman Batmobile RAT2 Distortion Pedal; it is a thing you can buy. You pick up a unit as a pre-order on reverb.com for $159.95. Delivery is expected to happen starting September 15, 2019. The price is kind of OK for something this unique and sweet sounding, but man, the shipping somewhat of a killer and a deal breaker. Just saying…
