Drinking and driving don’t mix. But that does not mean a distillery can’t team up with an automaker. And team up Scottish distillery, Bowmore, and luxury sports car maker, Aston Martin did. The result of the collaboration is this: Bowmore x Aston Martin Black DB5 1964 Whisky.
If you are expecting an Aston Martin DB5 shaped bottle, well then, you will be disappointed. But let us assure you that the bottle is no less beautiful because, engine piston – specifically, a genuine Aston Martin DB5 piston.
Contained inside this unique, handcrafted vessel is an exceptionally rare single malt, Black Bowmore 1964. This deep obsidian black artisanal alcoholic beverage has the aroma of ripe exotic fruits and creme caramel that progresses into a soft tobacco smoke, aromatic orange peel and rich black cherry over time.
The taste is described as intense flavors of mango, passion fruit and acacia honey “interwoven with a powerful combination of coffee and tobacco smoke.”
Only 25 bottles are being offered, each housed in a handmade presentation carrying case inspired by the Islay’s oldest distillery’s coastal estate, with deep blue color and a custom, nickel-plated solid brass latch and hinges. Classy. Very classy.
The Bowmore x Aston Martin Black DB5 1964 Whisky is expected to release this Fall for a princely sum of US$65,600.
