You’d be surprise what artisans working for big companies can come up with when given free rein to do whatever they desire. Alright. That may be only applicable to craftsman Yusuke Kadoi.
What you see here is indeed a Watermelon Bag. Lets not question the absurdity of the creation and see the product as is. It’s beautiful, isn’t it? OK. I lied. I can’t overlook the absurdity. I just can’t.
But while ridiculous, I can’t deny there is some fun to this creation. And fun is exactly what this bag is about when Japanese luxury bag brand Tsuchiya Kaban gave artisans complete creative rein to work on their side project of choice.
Craftsman Yusuke Kadoi came up with this. The watermelon bag is not only for ONE watermelon, but a watermelon of a specific size. Now, lets not be too rigid here. I am pretty sure it can contain smaller melons. Just that it will not be as, you know, nice looking compared to a snugly fitted watermelon.
I am totally digging the contrast between the green watermelon and the tanned leather. It’s artistic, don’t you think?
No words on how much the Watermelon Bag will cost. In fact, it is not clear if it will ever be on sale. And if it ever does, we would very much love to know who is the person who bought it. Hey, totally not judging at all.
