BoxPlates PlayStation 5 Replacement Cover Plates

PlayStation 5 is an ugly-ass console. There. I said it. Going slim did little to soothe that eye-jabbing hunk of plastic and electronics. Judging by how many YouTubers have tried to fix its awkward look, it’s safe to say I’m not alone. Spoiler alert: Slapping on fancy cover plates or skins won’t change that cruel reality—unless those cover plates are BoxPlates.

BoxPlates, as the name implies, ditches your too-many-curves PS5 design in favor of a sleek, squared-off, Xbox-style silhouette. I get it—Sony probably wanted something futuristic that turns heads. Well, they kind of succeeded, but just not in the way they hoped.

This set of replacement cover plates includes two parts: injection-molded outer plates for a clean, factory-level finish, and high-strength, 3D-printed internal clips that are modular and replaceable if they ever wear out or break. Practical and pretty. Another boon with the aftermarket cover plates is that it has added ventilation, facilitating better airflow, which translates to better cooling.

BoxPlates are available for the original PS5 with Disc Drive, and for both Disc and Digital versions of the PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim. No tools are needed for installation, and once it’s on, your console will finally blend in with your setup instead of trying to cosplay as a futuristic air purifier.

Pre-orders are open now for US$84.99, with the July batch almost gone.
