Kaneda’s bike from Akira is perhaps one of the most iconic motorcycles in pop culture. Over the years, there have been various attempts to recreate this legendary anime ride—including an anime-accurate, purchasable example from Barcelona. But let’s be honest: its street legality is questionable, and not everyone’s a fan of sitting that close to the pavement.

This is where the Akira-inspired electric bike might just fill the shoes of every fan’s cyberpunk dreams. Conceived by creative studio Vita Veloce Team—with help from, you guessed it, AI—the bike retains the essence and spirit of Kaneda’s machine while making it practical for modern roads. The studio, co-founded by J Balvin and designer Mattias Gollin, has crafted a futuristic sports bike that screams Akira at first glance. The color, the lines, the attitude—it’s all there.
Not much is known about the bike yet, but from photos shared by DAB Motors and Vita Veloce, it appears to one-up Kaneda’s ride with atmospheric LED wheel lighting that gives it a Tron-like glow. It reportedly includes “sound-absorbing foam for immersive engine resonance.” Which is… interesting. It’s electric, so shouldn’t it be quiet?
This reimagined two-wheeler was engineered, 3D-printed, and hand-built in France by Peugeot-owned DAB Motors. Incredibly, the team completed the prototype in just three weeks, delivering it to J Balvin in Tuscany for his 40th birthday.
But don’t get too jealous—it’s not a one-off. Production is coming soon, and each unit will be fully customizable (details pending). Pre-orders are expected to open soon, so yes, you might get to live your real-life Kaneda moment after all.
