feel like snuggling up in a cosy sleeping bag but yet don’t want to be disconnected with the creature comfort of your humble abode? well, if designer Stephanie Hornig had her way, you probably could. Hornig created this particular sofa/daybed, aptly dubbed as Camp Daybed, as part of her final-year project at the University of the Arts in Berlin. the concept is pretty straight forward: to bring the great outdoors into your living area. the Camp Daybed is essentially a sleeping bag with legs, which you can use as a sofa in the day and slip in for a good night sleep. the padded 3D-knitted fabric and cotton sleeping bag goes over a comfy mattress which sits over a steel frame that is ‘dismountable’ for easy transportation and storage. true to its tent-like intent, there is a portion of the sleeping bag that hangs over the low backrest of the sofa (secured by rubber bands) that features pockets for storing pillows, magazines or whatever. awesome stuff, indeed and we certainly hope some furniture maker picks it up and make it a reality. perfect for those seeking the feeling of camping without the annoying insects (mozzies, especially) or for the man who just got booted out of the bedroom by his spouse. click through for a few more look at the Camp Daybed by Stephanie Hornig.
