cycling is an excellent way to keep fit but while long cycling trip is enjoyable, you will need to keep yourself hydrated to make up for the of fluid lost through perspirations. bottle cage and hydration pack are two common ways of keeping water handy while cycling. the problem is, reaching out for the bottle down below could be a dangerous affair, well, at least that’s what Showers Pass think so and apparently, due to such scenario, “races have been lost and riders have been injured by jettisoned water bottles.” so why not hydration pack? well, it adds weight on the rider and not to mention it is restrictive and unnecessarily warms the carrier’s back. Lotus Formula One concept car is wrapped in carbon fiber

Lotus Formula One Concept Car by Sonny Lim 544x311px
(credit: Sonny Lim)

do you know Sonny Lim? honestly, i don’t, but what i know that this guy has one hell of an imagination. paying tribute to Aryton Senna’s 1986 Lotus 98T, Sonny is not afraid to show the world his interpretation of the Team Lotus’s car for the Formula One 2011 season with the familiar colors of black and gold. instead of sponsor logos in bright colors, Sonny’s concept has them in matte tonal colors over the clear coated carbon fiber body. the top of the car is where the majority of the drag is, hence it is coated with matte finish to “improve laminar flow reducing turbulence and increasing aerodynamic efficiency.” seriously, we don’t care much about the drag coefficient technicalities. we just know it look wonderfully gorgeous. let’s face it, black isn’t for everyone which is perhaps why Sonny has conjured up a white ‘top’ version too. equally awesome. check out a few images after the break to judge for yourself. Lotus T 125 should really be dressed in this design. Continue reading Lotus Formula One concept car is wrapped in carbon fiber

The Rowbike lets you cruise the dry land by rowing actions

The Rowbike 544x430px
(credit: Hammacher) The Rowbike | US$1,400.00 | www.hammacher.com

i can’t remember when was the last time i hit the gym but as i recall, among the sea of exercise equipment, the rower was my favorite. mainly because it has a video screen upfront that shows your ‘boat’ against a competitor that kept my eyes occupied but that’s where the thrill ends. at the end of the day, i’d still be stuck in an air-conditioned room with bunch of folks smelling of sweat. alternative to the gym rower, is to hit the water for some real-deal rowing but that’s quite hassle, unless you happen to live next to a lake. for urban folks, The Rowbike might be the answer to monotonous rowing in the gym and the real deal rowing experience. no, Lunartic is not a person gone nuts. it is probably the first bicycle that has a working hubless wheel. Lunartic is a project from Loughborough Design School student Luke Douglas. the design combines different tire sizes with belt drive and tubless (and hubless) rear wheel. according to its designer, putting the moving parts within the rear wheel space creates “a product that is the size of a small wheel bicycle but with the comfort and performance of one with a large wheel.” Continue reading Lunartic belt-drive bicycle makes hubless wheel a reality
