Honda e Electric Car Reservation Opens

Honda’s super adorable and somewhat retro-ish electric vehicle, Honda e, is now available for reservation in the U.K. Honda U.K. has quietly launched a reservation website where folks in U.K. can reserve the Honda e by registering themselves on the website and putting down a £800 refundable deposit. However, the exact availability and how much the car will eventually cost are unknown at this point. It feels like Honda isn’t ready to generate more buzz yet.

According to InsideEVs, the Japanese automaker said that “through the end of the year, it will send invitations to customers to place orders.” Again, “through the end of the year” is kind of vague and so, there is no way of guessing when it will be. One interesting bit, though, the reservation website actually allows you to choose from five available colors.

But really, that’s about all the website has to offer as far as insight into the car. Whether or not the car will look exactly as the prototype revealed earlier this year is not clear. Having said that, the details remain as obscure as when it made its appearance in February. All we know is it will provide a range of over 200 kilometers (124 miles) and the battery cells supplied by Panasonic will support “fast charging” that will take it to 80 percent charge in 30 minutes.

Honda e is a rear-wheel drive vehicle, btw, which is awesome. However, not sure if there will be an all-wheel drive variety in future.
