A TV can never be truly wireless, or can it really? Well, going truly wireless is what Displace TV wants to do. Billed as the world’s first truly wireless TV, the Displace TV is a 55” 4K TV that will have no wires or ports. That’s right. It does not even have a power supply cable because it is battery-powered.
Yup. Believe it. A battery-powered TV. Displace TV said that each battery is good for a month of use in between charges with an average usage of six hours per day. Moreover, it will have a proprietary hot-swappable battery system that allows the TV to remain fully operational while the batteries are being charged one at a time by the battery charging unit. There will also be a base unit along with the main TV.
Bold proposition indeed but what’s even bolder is its desire to make eliminate the “unwieldy, tedious wall mounting” and “antiquated” remote controls. How? Display TV will be super lightweight, tipping the scales at under 20 pounds (9.1 kilograms), and can be stuck to any surface with proprietary active-loop vacuum technology. Plus, it will be primarily controlled by hand gestures – in addition to touch and voice interfaces.
Users can simply push with their palm to play, pinch to zoom in or out, or literally reach out and grab what’s on the TV and “throw” it onto another Displace TV said Displace TV. That’s not it. When you move between rooms, the content will magically move to the TV in that room by the virtue of proprietary computer vision technology.
Holy mother of… that sounds like a TV of the future, doesn’t it? It sure is but it does not end there either. Multiple 55” 4K Displace TVs can be snapped together to create any size TV. Absolutely mind-blowing. But can it really do all those? I guess we have to see next week when Displace TV debut at the CES 2023.
