Thanks to the new DJI O3 Air Unit, you don’t need a DJI imaging drone to experience the DJI blend of FPV flying. Granted that the world-renowned imaging drone maker hasn’t got a lot of FPV experience, having started last year’s March and had its second FPV drone only this year but it definitely knows how to offer kickass transmission and hence, the DJI O3 Air Unit.

With the DJI O3 Air Unit transmission system, third-party drones can also enjoy DJI’s video transmission technology. The setup includes a 48 MP 1/1.7” sensor that captures up to 4K/60fps video with a 155° super-wide FOV, while the built-in 2T2R omnidirectional antennas deliver a 1080p/100fps live feed from up to 10 km away with latency as low as 30 ms.

The camera unit, which touts f/2.8 aperture for excellent depth of field, is also capable of recording 2.7K/120fps slow motion. It is capable of H.265 video transmission at a max bitrate of 50 Mbps. Video can be shot in D-Cinelike color mode, allowing for stunning visual results after color grading and post-processing.
