Get ready for the next installment of the real driving simulator, the Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 with a proper simulator rig. I am not sure what you are going to get for the seat but if you are planning on getting an official steering wheel, the Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro Steering Wheel is the go-to setup.
Well, go-to if you have the dough to drop, that is. We are talking about at least a US$699.95 investment here. This is definitely no child’s play. It is for grown-ups who are super serious about the world’s renowned driving simulator and who have the financial muscle to flex.
In return, you will be treated to Fanatec’s DirectDrive technology that has the motor directly mounted to the steering shaft, affording drivers an extremely precise drive feel. In short, the force feedback will be absolutely unadulterated.
The motor is a 100% custom motor developed in Germany specifically for sim racing. It further features painted FluxBarrier technology that enables the nuances of force feedback detail to be communicated to your hands with incredible clarity.
All told, the motor offers a peak torque of 5 Nm and with the optional Boost Kit, it could kick up to 8 Nm. Bonkers. If you want realistic driving feedback on the steering wheel, this would be it.
Plus, it is the official Gran Turismo steering with the steering wheel itself designed by Polyphony Digital for the game.
The steering wheel further features a white OLED display and diffused RevLED strip that offers useful visual information while driving and operating the Fanatec Tuning Menu.
Also on the wheel is a unique array of 5-way directional sticks, along with the familiar PlayStation inputs. Completing the steering wheel design are tactile rubber grip and ergonomic paddle shifters.
The US$699.95 package comes bundled with a pedal set featuring steel construction with precise and durable sensors. The pedal set is upgradeable to load cell brake for even more precise braking control and a realistic feel. The Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro Steering Wheel is available for pre-order with official delivery on March 14, 2022.
