Filson Rugged Watch Collection

Filson, the name for everything outdoor, now has rugged wrist watches too. The collection consists of two models, Mackinaw and Journeyman, with 23 styles to choose from – all built to rough it out in the great outdoors with you. These watches are hand-assembled at sister company Shinola’s Detroit factory and boasting features like Shinola’s Aragonite quartz movement, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with AR (anti-reflective) coating, screw-down crown, stainless steel caseback – secured down with no less than six screws, Swiss Superluminova-treated hands and numbers, and 20ATM (660 feet or 200 meters) water resistant. The Mackinaw is available in a simple three-hand iteration, as well as chronograph, while Journeyman (which sports a 44mm case as opposed to 43mm on the Mackinaw) is offered in chronograph and GMT versions.

Depending on the timepiece chosen, the watch maybe matched to a stainless steel bracelet, Bridle Leather, or Tin Cloth. But if you insist, the watch can also be paired to rubber, nylon or Horween leather too. It’s your choice, really. What really matters is, these are watches conceived by an establishment that knows the great outdoors and understand what outdoorsmen want, and equally important is, they are made right in the U.S.A by a company that knows no second best. However, all these promises and quality does come with a price. We wouldn’t say Filson Rugged Watch Collection (not the official title, btw) falls under the ‘luxury watch’ category, but we suppose the associated stickers, which ranges between $600 and $1,100, are probably just for the promised performance, cos’ they are after all Filson.
