Fujifilm’s original instax Pal was an unusual little thing: an instax camera that did not actually print photos. The new instax Pal 2 retains that curious arrangement while giving the palm-sized digital camera a more traditional appearance and several useful upgrades.
The biggest additions are an optical viewfinder and a 1-inch LCD screen on top, allowing you to compose a shot and review it without immediately reaching for your phone. The camera stores up to 100 images internally, accepts microSD cards, and transfers photos through Bluetooth 5.1 or its built-in USB-C connector.
The instax Pal app remains necessary for accessing the complete experience. It can turn a smartphone into a remote shutter, receive and store photos, and decorate them with text, stickers, and 30 effects spread across five filter themes. Images can also be framed in instax mini, SQUARE, WIDE, or borderless formats.
A new instax Animation mode captures 10 consecutive frames and combines them into a flipbook-style animation. If one frame deserves a physical existence, it can be sent to a compatible instax Link smartphone printer, mini LiPlay, or mini Evo. Those devices, along with the required film, are sold separately. Yes, the Pal 2 remains an instax camera that needs another instax product to produce an instax print.
The package includes a hand strap, USB-C cable, and camera-angle adjustment accessory for hands-free shots. Available in Black or White, the Fujifilm instax Pal 2 arrives in late September 2026 for US$169.95.
