G-Shock Poison Dart Frogman Watch

Never mind that the poison dart frogs aren’t good swimmers due to lack of toe webbing, let alone good divers because the G-Shock Poison Dart Frogman Watch is a goddamn good-looking dive watch to ignore. Come on, seriously, who can resist the red, blue, and black, colorway with transparent elements of the Casio G-Shock Frogman GWFA1000APF1A?

G-Shock Poison Dart Frogman Watch

The G-Shock Poison Dart Frogman Watch is a Frogman 30th anniversary model inspired by the poison dart frog, a poison species of frog that dwells in Central and South America. This particular model features a multicolor carbon bezel that evokes the colorful appearance of a poison dart frog:

“Vivid black, orange, and blue interwoven in organic patterns evoke the beautiful colors of the poison dart frog.* The bezel is cut out from a base material of laminated carbon and glass fibers. No two are exactly alike, reflecting the rarity of this frog species. The multicolor design is highlighted by the use of similar colors on the dial and clear resin for bezel components.”

The color carbon bezel is paired with indices in striking orange red and blue outlined hands, and a band printed with polarized that recalls the speckled pattern of a frog. The same treatment is also found on the case back with the iconic frog character reimagined as a poison dart frog.

There are over 100 species of poison dart frogs, btw, each having its own unique bright colors. While Casio did not specifically say what the Casio G-Shock Frogman GWFA1000APF1A is based on, it would appear that it has the colors of the blue-jeans frog or strawberry poison-dart frog, which is a beautiful amphibian by the way (but DO NOT touch one ever, if you come across one).

The G-Shock Poison Dart Frogman Watch sells for US$1,100. It appears to be sold out at the time of this writing. But you may get yourself signed up to be notified when it becomes available again.
