Godzilla Minus One Team Godzilla Claw Heels

Still on the topic of the 96th Academy Awards. Godzilla Minus One not only surprises at the box office in Japan and the United States but it also surprises at the Oscars when it bagged Best Visual Effects. But that is just the start. The visual effect team of Takashi Yamazaki, Kiyoko Shibuya, Masaki Takahashi, and Tatsuji Nojima went up on stage to receive their Oscar statuettes from Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, each of them carrying a Godzilla figure. Ain’t they a fun bunch?

Godzilla Minus One Team Godzilla Claw Heels

That’s not it. The visual effects team of Godzilla Minus One made a unique fashion statement at the 96th Annual Academy Awards by wearing Godzilla-inspired shoes. Designed by Japanese designer Matsuki Ryosuke, the black shoes featured heels resembling Godzilla’s claws, with the men’s versions having zippers and Kiyoko Shibuya’s pair styled as Mary Jane patent leather shoes.

This creative choice, reflecting their work on the film, marked another occasion where the director, Takashi Yamazaki, sported the distinctive footwear, having previously worn them during the press run and at the Critics Choice Awards. They did not wear them for the red carpet event only; they were on stage with them. The team is not only hardworking and talented but they are out there to prove they are fun too.
