After the failed GoPro Karma, I believe GoPro will not let itself be distracted by non-core products. But that does not stop product designer Sean Gao from offering the answer to a question nobody asked: what if GoPro offers an all-in-one B2B solution for GoKart, including camera-equipped karts?
Folks, meet Gao’s wildest GoPro fantasy: the GoPro GoKart. Conceived in Spring 2023, this audacious concept imagines GoPro providing for the entire Go-Kart race, including the tracks, and go-kart that are of course, equipped the track and karts with cameras.
This proposed system aims to allow motorsports enthusiasts to relive the moments of the race. The solution proposed trackside cameras as well as overhanging cameras that will cover the entire race circuit which, together with an AI broadcast system, allows the race to be broadcast and to be recorded, and extracting the highlights using GoPro Quik.
But the trackside cameras and overhang cameras are not the things that draw us to Sean’s concept. It is the sleek, exotic sports car styling concept GoKart that had us at hello. This go-kart has a supercar-like silhouette, complete with a carbon fiber wrap-around aero that covers all four wheel arches, the side skirts, the front splitter, and the rear diffuser.
On the inside, it has a half-bucket go-kart seat and has rectangle racing steering wheel with an integrated digital screen that displays the mini race car’s data.
Back on the exterior, this exotic go-kart is outfitted with cameras around. There is one right smack in the center front and one in the center rear as an integrated unit with the rain light (yes, it has that too!). On either is a dual camera setup that presumably allows a 360-degree image to form.
Sean did not provide additional information beyond the B2B solution. Everything use we wrote here is based on the render and the model that Sean has created.
