If you are into SMEG’s retro style refrigerators, and the brand’s other similarly retro-styled appliances like the coffee machine and more, well then, I think Hisense Moderno Series (WF105R5) may be right up your retro alley. Launched in March 2025 in Singapore, the Moderno Series is a decidedly retro-licious washer for the fashion-conscious—yes, fashion-conscious even when it comes to home appliances.

Like the SMEG line of fridges, this 10.5 kg washer is a clean, minimal machine devoid of sharp edges. Instead, it sports bold, rounded edges and chrome parts that beg for attention. Hisense says this design “emanates pure Italian vibes and modern elegance.” In other words, it’s more SMEG than SMEG as far as washers go.
The Moderno Series WF105R5 is more than just a pretty face. It packs AI+ Wash to weigh your laundry and decide exactly how much detergent to use—saving you from the “too much soap” foam party. There’s Smart Dosing, anti-scaling tech that purifies water and prevents scale buildup, and a Raindrop Drum that’s gentle on your precious fabrics. You get high-pressure Jet Wash for stubborn dirt, Cloudy Wash for delicate items, and yes, you can pause mid-cycle to throw in that one sock you forgot.
With up to 1,400 RPM spin speed, a whisper-quiet inverter motor, and a memory backup that remembers your settings after a power cut, it’s practical too. Programs range from Cotton to Wool to Allergy Care, plus the oddly charming Air Wash for freshening clothes without water. And if you have kids, Child Lock is there to prevent “helpful” button pressing.
It may look like it belongs in Audrey Hepburn’s kitchen, but make no mistake—this washer is all 2025 inside. Retro on the outside, AI smarts on the inside.
The Hisense Moderno Series Front Load Washer 10.5 kg (WF105R5) has an MSRP of S$2,799-S$2,999 (US$2,185-US$2,341). However, it is currently having a deep discount, going as low as S$2,199 (~US$1,716).
