Huawei’s sub brand Honor’s View20 is not slated to be officially launch until January 22, 2019 in a Paris event, but already the China version, known as Honor V20 is revealed this past Wednesday. Honor V20 is the View20, sporting the hole punch selfie camera within its full-view display 2.0. The Honor V20 is a dual-SIM device with a FHD+ TFT LCD IPS display in 19.5:9 aspect ratio and because of the in-display camera, it managed a cool 91.82 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The 1,080 x 2,310 resolutions, together with the 6.4-inch display results in a pixel density of 391 ppi. At a glance, it looks pretty much like the recently announced Huawei nova 4 and it might very be, except that it gets the new HiSilicon’s newest flagship SoC, the Kirin 980 which packs a processor made up of 2x Cortex-A76 2.6 GHz, 2x Cortex-A76 1.92 GHz and 4x Cortex-A55 1.8 GHz chips, and Mali-G76 MP10 720 MHz GPU – the same SoC found on the Huawei Mate 20 series smartphones.

Depending on the model, RAM is 6 or 8 GB and a standard 128 GB storage. Speaking of model, Honor V20 has a special MOSCHINO (yes, that MOSCHINO!) edition that works on 8 GB RAM and 256 GB. While it may be a dual-SIM device, it totally does not support microSD card, so users with insatiable appetite for storage, do take note. Also, it may sport the flagship chip, it does not have now-still-rare in-display fingerprint sensor. A physical fingerprint sensor can still be found on the back.

Beautifying yourself using a smartphone camera is officially complete.

Imaging-wise, it has a dual camera setup on the back, featuring a 48 MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f1.8 aperture, capable of 960 fps slo-mo videoing, and it, of course, has AF, AI HDR, and LED flash. The second camera is a thing called 3D Time of Flight (ToF) that works to determine depth and more interestingly, it is a camera that can slim subjects and also create 3D avatar of the user. As for the front, it is a 25 MP item, paired to a f2.0 lens, but no AF.

It has a large capacity battery coming in at 4,000 mAh with support for fast charging. Like the View20 (well, technically, it is the View20), V20 also gets Link Turbo that will intelligently switch between WiFi and 4G to achieve seamless data transmission. Beyond that, the rest of the features are pretty standard for today’s smartphone. Skip ahead for the specification summary.

Honor V20 is expected to be available starting December 28, 2018, with pre-order underway as we speak. It is not cheap (like, obviously) with the 6 GB model asking for 2,999 RMB (about US$435) and 8 GB model is going for 3,499 RMB (around US$508) while the MOSCHINO edition demands consumers to cough out 500 RMB more over the 8 GB variety, at 3,999 RMB (around US$580).
