LG SL Series Sound Bars CES 2019

LG has a lot to show off at next year’s CES in Vegas. Among them are the Capsule-based craft beer making machine and these: LG SL Series Sound Bars. Now, we do not have the numbers, but I am guessing LG’s first collaboration with Meridian Audio on its premium sound bars introduced at CES 2018 must have been quite well received because, LG and the premium British audio maker has once again teamed up to introduce a new series of sound bars, namely SL10YG, SL9YG and SL8YG, which the electronic juggernaut will debut at, you guessed it, CES 2019.

Aesthetically, the SL sound bars seem to have inherited the minimal, sleek look of SK series sound bar. Speaking of which, the SL series sound bars features Meridian’s Bass & Space technology that promised improved soundstage and envelops listeners in rich, uncompromising sound and strong bass, and Image Elevation technology to a sound-from-TV effect. Wait a minute. Didn’t the SK already have those? Hmmm. Anyways, there is a new Upmix technology that “up-mix two-channel audio to multiple, distinct channels without generating any distortion while maintaining tonal balance,” all time offering a boost in vocal and lead instruments clarity.

And then there is of course Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, both of which are supported by all three models. LG said some premium sound bars will support high-resolution audio “via an advanced processing algorithm that can upscale conventional file formats” to result in audio output that “comes even closer to studio quality.” Wireless Rear speaker Kit, presumably sold separately, can be used with these sound bars to create a more theater-like experience. Finally, the new lineup of sound bars also boasts AI smart connectivity (basically smart hub) and Google Assistant built right into them, so you can ask questions and control the sound bar and other connect devices via voice commands.

Oh, wait. Apparently there’s a gyroscope built into the sound bar too. The gyro serves to sense the position of the sound bar and adjust the sound direction to “guarantee the optimal listening experience.” You will be able experience what LG SL Series Sound Bars has to offer at LG’s booth in Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall, booth #11100 at CES 2019.
