K-2SO, a KX-series security droid, played a significant part in Rogue One and he also touched the hearts of fans when he sacrificed himself to allow Andor and Jyn Erso to steal the plans of the Death Star. But alas, he did not truly win the hearts of fans. At least not as much as the two other droids from the original trilogy did.
It doesn’t help this series of droid’s popularity when the KX series droids made a return to the screen, in The Book of Boba Fett, as what they are supposed to do, enforcing. That’s in the show. Meanwhile, in this real world, it has also returned as a 1/6th scale collectible by Hot Toys.
If you have been following the world of Star Wars collectibles and/or Hot Toys, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to you. However small part the KX enforcer droids played in the Disney+ series, you know Hot Toys will want to sell you a collectible of it because it already has a KX droid mold, the K-2SO 1/6th scale collectible figure from 5 years ago.
Hot Toys is also fond of pulling the same Hasbro modus operandi; retool and/or redeco. But if you are a fan who hasn’t already gotten the K-2SO, you may want this new version. From what we can tell, it has a more realistic paint job as compared to the previous version.
Anywho, so yes, there is a new KX series droid collectible figure. Hot Toys Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett KX Enforcer Droid 1/6th Scale Collectible Figure is based on the droid’s appearance in The Book of Boba Fett.
It stands around 36 cm (14 inches) tall, touts a “sophisticatedly constructed mechanical structure” with 30 points of articulations, light-up eyes, and a separate rolling eyeball system – all of which you can find in the Rogue One-based figure but in a new paint job with very delightful weathering effects.
The Hot Toys Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett KX Enforcer Droid 1/6th Scale Collectible Figure further features enhanced articulations on the wrist and comes supplied with a pair of hands with fully-articulated fingers, a blaster rifle, a blaster pistol, a Mandalorian helmet with weathering effects, and specially designed rocky themed diorama figure base.
It will be released sometime in Q2-Q3 2023. You can pre-order it now from online retailers for about US$285.
