Before Luna Ultra, the gimbal camera space remained unchallenged for DJI. Even though, with just two players, the competition has already heated up. So getting into this market feels like feeding off the crumbs—if you can find any at all. Well, not if yours can fly.

Enter HOVERAir VERSA. VERSA answers a question nobody asked: what if your pocket camera could fly? The folks over at HOVERAir, a Zero Zero Robotics brand that popularized flying selfie cameras, must have looked at its flying cameras, like the X1 Pro series, and had a light-bulb moment when it noticed that the core imaging component is pretty much a gimbal camera. And so, the inevitable happened: the imaging body was turned into an actual handheld gimbal camera.
Out of the box, it looks just like any of HOVERAir’s flying cameras, with its caged rotors and folding design. But it is more. You can detach the camera part of the flying camera equation, and voilà! You get yourself a pocket gimbal camera for your close-ups, daily stories, and other ground-level action—all stabilized thanks to the 3-axis gimbal.
When you are ready to take it further, like literally, just snap it back into the “wings,” and it is a flying camera again. Like, how cool is that?
As your dedicated personal aerial cinematographer, it is just launch and go. VERSA will take care of the rest. The built-in AI tracking engine follows your every move, while over 10 intelligent flight modes let you choose the right one to suit the type of footage you desire.

For now, the technical information is not entirely clear. We only know that it claims to feature “an industry-leading processor” that will set a new standard for dynamic range.
There is also a thing called “AI framing.” Leveraging AI to analyze the environment, it can suggest camera placement. It takes the guesswork out of framing. Once aligned, an intelligent crop locks in a composition that’s balanced and professional.
Finally, there’s 3D Worlds. With this function, VERSA will perform a precise 360° flight and then reconstruct the photo in three dimensions. When all is done, you can view your image from any angle using any device—which is the equivalent of stepping inside the photo. You can even share this 3D world with friends.
The HOVERAir VERSA is a coming-soon product. You may sign up to keep updated on when it will be launched over at hoverair.com.
