HTC VIVE Tracker (3.0) and Facial Tracker for VR

Lets run through this real quick. Here are two new peripherals for virtual reality from HTC VIVE. The VR equipment maker has introduced its next-gen tracking peripherals, VIVE Tracker (3.0), and VIVE Facial Tracker. Clearly, these are not for gaming – at least is not now.

The VIVE Tracker (3.0) is for commercial applications like TV/film production, sports rehabilitation and training, medical use, and full-body tracking for VR avatars, for examples, allowing seamless integration of physical objects in extended reality.

Meanwhile, the VIVE Facial Tracker offers seamless tracking of 38 facial movements across the lips, jaw, teeth, tongue, chin, and cheeks, giving an accurate real-time depiction of almost the entire of the lower facial area in VR.

It has a dual camera system that features 60 Hz tracking rate with sub-10s response time and an IR illuminator for accurate tracking even in low light conditions. There is no complex installation required; it just attached to the from of VIVE VR headset such as the VIVE Pro HMD.

The HTC VIVE Tracker (3.0) and VIVE Facial Tracker for Virtual Reality is available starting today, March 10, in EMEA, priced at £129/€139 each. They will be available in the U.S. soon for US$129.99 each.
