Do you guys remember iRiver? The company that used to be known for its MP3 player is one heck of a resilient company. Since its incorporation in 1999, it had saw ups and downs. It survived to this day by reinventing itself. The company has long moved on from MP3 to become an electronics brand that sells Android TVs, dashcams, a robot vacuum, and many, many more.
The iRiver IA2000 CD Player/Bluetooth Speaker in white you see here is one of its latest products launched late last year (November 2022, to be precise). Yes. It’s a CD player. It being a CD player is why we decided to feature it (y’ know, for nostalgic sake) and also, it is a pretty sleek device.
In addition, it is also a Bluetooth speaker that lets you stream audio from a Bluetooth-enabled source such as a smartphone and wait for it, it is also a FM radio. If that’s not enough to keep your sound holes entertained, you’d be glad to know that there’s auxiliary input and RCA in for non-Bluetooth-enabled sources as well as a USB Type-A port that play your tunes stored on a flash drive.
Those I/Os are located around the back along with a power input, an on/off switch, and a USB charging port. It also has a headphone jack for personal listening, also located at the back of the device.
The CD player is a CD slot and supports playback of audio CD, CD-R, and CD-RW while the USB supports up to 128 GB flash drive formatted in Windows File System FAT16 or FAT32. File formats supported include MP3 and WMA formats. Bluetooth is version 5.1 with support for A2DP and AVRCP and with a range of up to 10 meters (33 feet).
The classy design continues to the touch control on top of the CD player where you can also find a large, sleek volume dial. Meanwhile, audio reproduction is through a pair of drivers rated at 30 W each to result in a total peak power output of 60 W.
At the time of this post, the iRiver IA2000 is being sold in South Korea at a discounted price of 189,000 won (or about US$141). It had a list price of 210,000 won (US$157).
