China’s electronics maker most notable for its innovative TVs, KONKA, has revealed the world’s first micro LED watch, called APHAEA watch. It was a show of the potential of micro-pitch LED display and in this case, in the size that fits on a person’s wrist.

The KONKA APHAEA Micro LED Watch is outfitted with a P0.12AM-LTPS micro LED screen, which KONKA said reduces pixel pitch to just 0.12 mm. This results in pretty impressive screen resolution of 400 x 400. The micro LED chips are mere 30 micrometer in size.

According to a report, the display is produced on a LTPS backplane which top a brightness of 1,500 nits and touts a color gamut of 147% DCI-P3. More impressively, the KONKA APHAEA Micro LED Watch has a battery life of up to 35 days.

The KONKA APHAEA Watch may be just a watch, but there is no doubt that this new display technology will eventually arrive to smartwatch and that is something to look forward to.
