Think places in Harry Potter’s universe, Hogwarts is probably the first place to come to mind. As far as Hogwarts goes, it is all about lessons, giant mythical creatures, and treachery. But LEGO Harry and his gang don’t need that all the time; sometimes they do need a little break in a form of retail therapy.
Enters the LEGO 75978 Harry Potter Diagon Alley set. Designed for ages 16 and up, this latest addition to the LEGO Harry Potter collection packs a whopping 5,544 pieces and includes no less than 14 minifigures, including the shop operators. 14! That alone is worth the consideration for Potterheads.
Even more so when you see the details it packed including familiar shops like the Ollivanders Wand Shop, Scribbulus Writing Implements, Quality Quidditch Supplies, the Daily Prophet, Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor, Flourish & Blotts bookseller and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.
The boatload of details affords both playability and as a display set. But be warned. This set demands quite some shelf space. It stretches 102.4 cm wide, 13 cm deep and towers at 29 cm (40 x 5 x 11 inches).
Shelf real-estate is one thing; the LEGO 75978 Harry Potter Diagon Alley set also demands that you have some financial muscle too cos’ it will run you back at US$399.99 when it becomes available starting on September 1st.
