Never mind that we did not tell you about the LEGO Hogwarts Express (75955) and also never mind if you did not get the set because there is an even better set that will arrive later this month. Folks, meet the LEGO Hogwarts Express Collectors’ Edition (76405).
While the 75955 was aimed at kids between 8-14 and had just 801 pieces, the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Express Collectors’ Edition (76405) is quite a monster of a set and, as the product name hints, aimed at adult fans of LEGO (AFOLs).
It packs an impressive 5,129 elements to realize a 1:32 scale replica of the iconic Hogwarts Express with a whopping 20 minifigures that include Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Remus Lupin, Ginny Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood, and more.
The set lets you build the engine (i.e. the steam locomotive), the coal tender, and a 3-room passenger car. The latter features 3 rooms, each depicting a classic scene: when Harry, Ron, and Hermione first meet (The Sorcerer’s Stone), when Professor Lupin saves Harry from the Dementor (The Prisoner of Azkaban), and when Luna saves Harry from Draco’s spell (The Half-Blood Prince). Each room has a light brick that lets you light up the featured movie moments.
The locomotive further touts a lever that simulates the steam train’s motion. Aside from the train, you will get to recreate Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross Station where yet another scene awaits: where the adult Harry and Ginny wait with their children, Lily, James, and Albus, getting ready for Albus’ first trip aboard the train to the Wizarding World.
When completed, the set measures over 10.5 inches high, 46.5 inches long, and 8 inches wide (26 x 118, 20 cm).
The LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Express Collectors’ Edition (76405) will drop on August 31, 2022, for a cool US$499.99.
