This is it. The moment all foldable phone users have been waiting for: the next generation of folding phones from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, and Galaxy Z Fold4. There is a lot to unpack here. But generally speaking, you can’t tell them as new models at a glance. There are some subtle design changes, like the protruding camera modules on the Z Flip4, a slightly flatter frame et cetera.
As far as the Z Flip4 goes, the real improvement is on the usability of the secondary screen. Meanwhile, the Z Fold4 has a completely overhauled hinge system that enables it to shed some weight and thickness. In a bit to reduce weight and thickness, changes were made to the flexible display too.
Both devices are powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip. Both devices are rocking an “armor aluminum” frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Instead of me vomiting out features and specs which shall let the official infographic of the respective devices do the talking:
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 retains the same starting price as the Galaxy Z Flip3, which is US$999. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, on the other hand, starts at US$1,799 which is also the same as last year’s Fold3 pricing.
Both the new Z Flip and Z Fold will be available on August 26, 2022, with pre-orders starting today (August 10).
