I am sure you have seen the Hokusai’s The Great Wave of Kanagawa woodblock print image many times over. This one of Japan’s most iconic images have been immortalized in LEGO bricks by Japan’s only Certified Professional LEGO Builder, Jumpei Mitsui.

Mitsui’s LEGO interpretation of the Hokusai’s The Great Wave of Kanagawa is, as you can see, as majestic as the original artwork itself. In fact, it is pretty surreal seeing it in 3D for the first time and in LEGO elements.

The result was after much research and studying of giant wave formations, including countless hours spend watching video of waves on YouTube. Now, that’s dedications!

Mitsui LEGO sculpture of Hokusai’s The Great Wave of Kanagawa is currently on display at the Hankyu Brick Museum in Osaka, where you can find the Certified Professional LEGO Builder’s other LEGO work of art.
