Nearly 12 years have gone by since LEGO released the 3,152-piece LEGO Executor Super Star Destroyer (10221) set and if you are like me who did not get it because of the mind-blowing-for-2011 price tag, you’d be glad to know there is a more affordable version launching soon. That’s right, there’s finally a new LEGO Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer set.
Financial speaking, this time it’d be more management because the LEGO Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer (75356) has just 630 pieces and measures about 5.5 in. (14 cm) high, 17 in. (43 cm) long, and 7 in. (18 cm) wide when completed.
It is not small by any means; it still demands quite a respectable amount of shelf space but it’d feel more like a micro build when compared to the behemoth 10221 which stretched 1.27 meters (50 inches) long.
In spite of its “micro” scale, the 75356 is pretty detailed. It even includes two tiny Star Destroyers to cruise alongside it, you know, just to give a sense of how huge Darth Vader’s flagship spaceship is.
The Super Star Destroyer is inspired by the Sith Lord’s spaceship as seen in Stars Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983, 20th Century Fox). Speaking of which, the set is being released to celebrate the 40th year of ROTJ.
The set comes with its own display stand, which has a nameplate and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi 40th anniversary plaque. Sadly, though, the set will not have any minifigure. Ugh. I was half expecting Lord Vader’s minifigure at least. But nope. Nothing. Nada.
The LEGO Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer (75356) is set to arrive on May 01, 2023, for US$69.99. Recommended for ages 18 and up.
