The Leica D-Lux 7 “A BATHING APE x STASH” Limited-Edition Camera is when Leica Camera meets the Japanese streetwear icon, A Bathing Ape. I know right? It’s quite a sight to behold that will make even non-shutterbugs want one. I know I want but I am probably already too late. However, more importantly, I don’t have the US$1,895 Leica is asking in return for this fabulous-looking snapper.
The Leica D-Lux 7 “A BATHING APE X STASH” Limited-Edition Camera consists of a black-finish compact camera sold exclusively through Leica, and a silver-finish version available exclusively through the pioneering streetwear brand, A BATHING APE.
Each special edition features the signature ABC CAMO look of BAPE on the camera body, the streetwear brand’s APE HEAD logo, as well as the distinctive wild style tag of American graffiti artist, STASH who, if you haven’t already noticed, is also involved in this wonderful collaboration.
The collaboration between the three couldn’t be more fitting. A camera known for street photography meets the icon of streetwear and street artist.
Beyond the cosmetic treatment, the Leica D-Lux 7 “A Bathing Ape x STASH” shares the same technical specifications as the serial production model. This means you can expect features like Four Thirds sensor (17 megapixels), a fast 24-75 mm (35 mm equivalent) zoom lens with optical image stabilization, an aperture range of ƒ1.7-2.8, 4K 30 fps, and FHD 60 fps video recording.
The black-finish Leica D-Lux 7 “A Bathing Ape x STASH” sells for US$1,895 and comes supplied with an additional carrying strap, a specially designed camera pouch, and an auto lens cap that opens and closes as the lens retracts and extends.
The camera has a limited run of just 1,850 pieces worldwide. Last check, the product is currently “on back-order or out of stock.” Ugh. What a bummer. Not that I can afford it anyways.
