Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 Laptop

There’s no lack of gimmicky laptops, concept or otherwise. There’s one with a built-in solar panel, one that flips, some that fold, and more. However, if you ask me, nothing is more practical than one equipped with a multifunctional pogo pin that enables modular functionality. The Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 6, also known as the ThinkBook 16p 2025, is such a laptop.

The new ThinkBook 16p 2025 has a subtle protrusion on the top of its display that is home to the webcam and mic unit on the screen side and on the cover side, a set of pogo pins with an unusually high number of contact points—11, to be exact. Why that many? Well, this set of pins does more than enable power flow; it supports data and video transmission, allowing attachment of Lenovo’s Magic Bay modules.

Without the module, the ThinkBook 16p is a high-end business laptop (that is totally capable of AAA-title gaming, if I may add), featuring a discrete NPU that powers Lenovo AI Now personal assistant to seamlessly enhance workflow productivity and automation, thereby freeing up the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU to do more complex tasks such as real-time studio-grade acceleration for 3D rendering, modelling, and visualization of complex designs.

With Magic Bay modules, however, you can add a HUD smart display for key info at a glance, a Studio module with an advanced 4K camera and two high-quality speakers for remote collaboration and entertainment, a 4K webcam with advanced AI algorithms and 180° rotation, a light bar to illuminate your workspace for video calls or content creation, and even LTE connectivity for reliable internet. These Magic Bay modules will also work with other devices—thanks to standard Type-C connectivity.

The laptop also touts a higher system TDP of 180 W or up to 200 W in Geek Mode, allowing enhanced performance and stability for demanding tasks like multitasking and rendering. The ThinkBook 16p 2025’s 16-inch 3.2K display with X-Rite color calibration and low-blue-light support further reinforces its status as a creative machine.

Depending on configuration, it features Wi-Fi 7, USB-C, HDMI, Bluetooth 5.4, an advanced dual-fan cooling system, a choice of Intel Core Ultra HX processors or AMD Ryzen 9 processors, up to 32 GB DDR5-5200 memory, up to 1 TB PCIe 4.0 storage, and either a 720p HD webcam (AMD) or 1080p FHD IR Hybrid webcam (Intel). It also has a backlit keyboard and fingerprint reader. It is worth noting that the laptop was announced back in March with Intel, followed by AMD variants later. Depending on the processor, the ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 may offer a 165 Hz or 240 Hz refresh rate panel.

As far as pricing goes, the Intel model starts at 9,499 yuan, and the AMD model starts at 9,299 yuan in China [CH]. In the U.K., the ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 (Intel) starts at £1,355.99, and the AMD range starts at £1,107.98. Pricing varies region to region. For example, over in Italy, the Intel model starts at 2,294 euros [IT], and the AMD at 2,074.01 euros [IT]. It has not been listed in the U.S. yet.
