Arguably one of the most prolific creatives/designers of our time, Virgil Abloh, has left behind quite some legacy. The Mercedes-Maybach Limited-edition Maybach by Virgil Abloh you see here is one of his last creations before his untimely passing in November 2021.
Mercedes-Maybach has taken the wrap off the final chapter of Project MAYBACH, a cooperation with the late fashion designer, Virgil Abloh.
The ride, which was finalized before Abloh’s passing, was designed in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Group AG Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener in 2021.
The launch of the vehicle coincides with the release of a capsule collection designed by Virgil Abloh and in collaboration with Off-White.
The Limited-edition Maybach by Virgil Abloh is a fully equipped Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S680 featuring a unique two-tone color combination – a glossy obsidian black upper and sand hue lower half (including the wheels) – created exclusively for Project MAYBACH.
The two-tone scheme is carried into the cabin with the four-seat configuration, steering wheel, doors, lower dashboard, and ceiling lined in black and sand-colored Nappa leather, complete with sand-colored decor trims and strips. This unique ride wears a special Mercedes-Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo on the piano black middle of the center console, rear cushions, head restraints, and door sill panel.
“Unique to the limited-edition S‑Class is a bespoke user interface, which presents the driver with an even more luxurious variation of the Maybach MBUX suite of cutting-edge technologies. Hand picked visual elements are used to enrich the digital content: from a home button with coloured border and brand logo denoting the edition, to profile pictures decorated with luxurious fashion accessories. The result is an even more intuitive vehicle that exudes the limited edition’s distinctive style from exterior to interior. Every moment the driver spends on the road is elevated.”
Buyers of the Limited-edition Maybach by Virgil Abloh will also receive a custom-made wooden box wrapped in sand-colored Nappa leather emblazoned with Mercedes-Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo.
Inside the gift box is a 1/18 scale replica of the limited-edition car, two car keys, and a carabiner hook. Moreover, a special car cover, also featuring the Mercedes-Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo, will also be presented to customers.
The limited-edition S-Class is Abloh’s third collaboration with Mercedes-Benz following the Project MAYBACH electric show car and the Mercedes-Benz x Vigil Abloh Project Geländewagen.
The Limited-edition Maybach by Virgil Abloh is available in a strictly limited run of 150 units. The price is on request, I supposed?
