Marvel Cinematic Universe has entered into Phase 4 this year, which, for the first time, covers both TV series and movies. The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is part of it.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is the second movie under Phase 4 after Black Widow and it should be the fifth project of the Phase 4 after series WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki.
As with most MCU big screen projects, fans should expect some changes in backstory and relationship between the characters.
““It’s time for you to take your place,” a voice says in the brand new teaser trailer for Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. But Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) thought he left his past behind, only to discover he’s been drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.”
The movie stars Sim Liu (Kim’s Convenience), multiple award-winning Hong Kong actor Tony Leung as the protagonist’s father Wenwu/The Mandarin, Awkwafina aka Nora Lum (Crazy Rich Asians, Ocean’s 8) as Shang-Chi’s Friend Katy, Michelle Yeoh (Tomorrow Never Dies, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) as Jiang Nan, Chinese-American actress Fala Chen as Jiang Li, Florian Munteanu as Razor Fist and standup comedian Ronnie Chieng as Jon Jon, Shang-Chi’s friend.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The film is expected to hit the theaters on September 3, 2021.
