Matchbox 1987 Nissan Skyline GTS-R Die-cast Car

Celebrate the precursor to the birth of the legendary Godzilla*, the RB-series-engine Nissan Skyline GT-R, with this lovely Matchbox 1987 Nissan Skyline GTS-R 1:64 die-cast collectible. The 1987 Nissan Skyline GTS-R is not just another classic car. It foreshadows the revival of the GT-R. Even though it is not a GT-R, it was the closest folks at the time got to a GT-R since its badge ended in 1973.

It was a limited-run homologation special built for Group A racing that was powered, wait for it, by the RB20DET-R engine. Yes, the legendary engine that made the Skyline GT-R what it was back in the day. Anyhoo, now you can own one without selling a kidney, albeit in 1:64 scale.

Matchbox’s take on the 1987 GTS-R celebrates that golden era of Nissan touring-car bravado with a Creations Exclusive design that leans into 1980s vibe. It features an opening hood that reveals a tiny RB20DET-R, a white-red-and-pearl-blue paint scheme, and a ZAMAC body sitting on two-piece wheels with satin-silver lips and True Grip tires. The interior is black, the windows are super light smoke-tinted, and the full-metal pearl-grey chassis ties it all together.

The car is packaged in an acrylic case with foil accents, a motorsport-themed mural backdrop, a textured base, and a decorative outer box, making it look far more expensive than it should.
