Need be productive while on the go, but do not wish to be weighed down by, say, a laptop or a full-size tablet? Well then, the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 dual-screen phone/tablet may be the answer – especially if you rely much on Microsoft 365.

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 Dual Screen Phone/Tablet

The Microsoft Surface Duo from two years ago finally has a successor. With two larger 5.8-inch PixelSense Fusion displays (as opposed to the 5.6-inch on first-generation device) that open up to an 8.3-inch tablet, the new Duo is really a very large phone and an almost regular-size tablet.

With two screens, you will be able to pull off real multitasking without having to squint your eyes (OK, maybe just less squinting).

The new Microsoft Surface Duo 2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G Mobile Platform which means 5G connectivity is at your disposal and it is outfitted with a dynamic triple-lens camera (16 MP Ultra Wide, 12 MP Wide with OIS, 12 MP Telephoto with OIS plus a ToF sensor), stereo audio, NFC for contactless payments, and a suite of new accessories that add special features and extra protection.

In case anyone’s wondering… no, the Duo 2 and its predecessor are not folding screen phones. They are dual-screen devices that are pocketable productivity powerhouses. Perfect for an OCD like me who can’t stand the sight of the crease lines on the display of a folding screen. That’s if me want a giant device in my pocket…

The Duo also brings to the table a new feature: a revolutionary hinge that has a tiny strip of display on the spine that offers at-a-glance notifications:

Other highlights include a fingerprint power button, a 12 MP front-facing camera, BT 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6, USB Type C (3.2 Gen 2) connectivity, and a 4,340 mAh battery.

The device will be available starting on October 21, 2021, at 12 PM with a starting price of US$1,499.99. Obviously, it is not a device for everyone. I am guessing on those who are serious about productivity on the go need to apply. You can pre-order the device as we speak.
