We must have missed featuring the Montegrappa The Lord of the Rings Limited Edition writing instrument when it was released in 2020. If you miss it too, well, fret not because Montegrappa has returned to darkness, rekindling the mythos and magic of the classic fantasy trilogy in a special, small-batch reissue. Fellow Ringers/Tolkienites, meet the Montegrappa The Lord of the Rings: Doom Collector’s Edition.
This reissue takes the dark mythology of mount doom to the next level with scorched black ruthenium and a fiery core of Montegrappite artisanal resin (i.e. the custom Montegrappite core).
Unlike the Montegrappa Eye of Sauron and the Montegrappa Eye of Sauron: Collector’s Edition which doesn’t quite has the Eye of Sauron represented, the Montegrappa The Lord of the Rings: Doom Collector’s Edition has.
The all-seeing eye, finished in hand-painted enamel, can be seen looming above, suspended on the pen cap on the Barad-Dûr aka the Dark Tower finial. Not going to lie, it is a sight to behold.
All told, this writing instrument boasts over two dozen detailed artifacts from The Lord of the Rings trilogy, including a complex, sterling-silver exoskeleton, a vermeil sting clip, a ring of Barahir Cubic Zirconia, a removable gold-plated ring inscribed with Tengwar script from Sauron’s Rhyme of the Ring, and an 18K gold nib inscribed with J.R.R. Tolkien’s enigmatic monogram in the piston-fed fountain pens.
The Montegrappa The Lord of the Rings: Doom Collector’s Edition is also offered in a rollerball. Each pen type has an edition run of just 137 pieces with the Fountain Pen going for €5,400 (about US$5,515) and the Rollerpen, for €4,900 (around US$5,004). They are available to order now with shipping to commence by Friday, July 29, 2022.
