what happens when you cross a mountain bike with an off-road bike? unthinkable, as any mountain biking purists would have said, but as for the rest who wants a little more oomph in their trail biking experience, Motoped Motorized Bicycle Kit is the way to go. the Motoped Motorized Bicycle Kit, as the name suggests, exist as a kit which comprises of a made in USA chromoly tube frame, swing-arm, sprockets, custom made rear hub, 3/4″ steel jack shaft, and a custom 1″ exhaust system. as you might have already noticed, you will still be needing quite a few other parts to realize the skinny off-road bike dream and that includes a downhill mountain bike ready to be cannibalized and parts like engine, fuel tank, seat, fairings, and throttle from a Honda SR50 or a Chinese pitbike donor.

judging from the image, we have little to doubt about the quality of the kit, but how your hand-assembled Motoped will turn out very much depends on your technical inclinations. don’t say we didn’t warn you and on top of that, it doesn’t come cheap: the said kit will set you back at $970 and up ($1,170 for international backers) and as of now, it is available via Motopeds’ Kickstarter page (or here, if you prefer). we won’t say making a pledge would guarantee you a set; with just 27 days to go, the team is still falling short of their initial funding goal of 250 grand. as far as we can see, it is still a long shot as far as funding is concerned. we are concerned cos’ it would be a shame if such an awesome project failed to take off. so, if you love what you see, do give the Motopeds your support and in case you need some further convincing, check out the pledge video after the break to learn more.
