Who needs plutonium when you’ve got a 3D printer and a conveyor belt? One very dedicated Back to the Future fan has built a fully functional diorama recreating Part III’s legendary train-push scene—where Doc and Marty send the DeLorean rocketing to 88 mph with the help of a steam locomotive.

Using a 1:18 scale DeLorean model, a belt-driven track system, and a 3D-printed replica of the Sierra No. 3 locomotive, this setup lets the time machine roll along like it’s about to punch a hole through the space-time continuum. The creator even added LED lighting, custom rails, cork-based ballast, and a speed controller—because if you’re gonna build a DeLorean push rig, you may as well do it with style.
The result is a fully working, moving diorama complete with train noise, a painted wooden base, and the sheer joy of watching time-travel science powered by 470 RPM of DIY magic. Upgrades are already in the works, including a higher-torque motor, smoother rails, and even steam effects for the locomotive.
It’s a labor of love—and quite possibly the coolest way to time-travel without breaking any temporal laws.
