If you didn’t already know, TP-LINK, a company better known for making network equipment, has been making smartphones since 2015 under the brand called Neffos. Hmm, even a router maker? I guess the smartphone market pie is too huge to ignore? Maybe. The company took to this year’s MWC to showcase its products for, you know, exposure’s sake and among them are a pair of newer handsets, the 5-inch Neffos X1 and the 5.5-inch Neffos X1 Max. Some of you in Europe, S.E. Asia, and Middle East, may have already come across the former as it is already available in those markets. The X1 Max, on the other hand, will only be available in the same markets in Q2.
Highlights of the X1 devices include a super thin edges of as low as 2.75 mm coupled with a 0.6-mm thin chamfer to arrive at a rather thin profile 7.95mm. Though, I am baffled by why Neffos bother to let us in about the thin edges. The profile is all that matters, doesn’t it? Anyways, it has a pretty narrow bezel too, which affords it a screen-to-body ratio of 76 percent.
Other worthy mentions include a 2.5D curved-edge glass, a MediaTek Helio P10 octacore chipset with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, microSD card slot that support up to 128GB, a selfie-friendly fingerprint sensor that can unlock the screen in 0.2s, a 13MP BSI 5-element rear camera with dual-tone flash and phase detection AF, a 5MP selfie camera with wide-angle lens, and a 3,000 mAh (2,250 mAh on the X1) battery with fast charging capability.
You can learn more about these imaging-centric handsets from TP-LINK’s Neffos brand at their respective pages HERE and HERE. Also, you can find a spec summary below.
