GPD. The Shenzhen-based company best known for turning up impossibly small but pretty damn stylish laptop has a new gaming laptop called GPD Win Max. In the tradition of the Win line, the GPD Win Max has the same odd layout of gaming pad controls and trackpad above the tiny keyboard.
It feels very much like a mash up of a laptop and a handheld console. In fact, GPD has categorized it as a “mini gaming laptop/palm size gaming machine.” In addition, it has stake claim as the world’s smallest palm-top gaming laptop.
GPD Win Max sports an 8-inch H-IPS 10-point multi touch display and it is powered by the 10th-generation Intel Core i5-1035G7 quadcore processor with Intel Iris Plus 940 Graphics. It further packs 16 GB dual-channel LPDDR4-3733 RAM and 512 GB M.2 NVMe/SATA3 storage.
Other spec sheet details include Corning Gorilla Glass 5, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band wireless 802.11ax, MU-MIMO, RJ45 Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mbps, backlit QWERTY keyboard, dual fan and dual heat pipe cooling system, 1x Thunderbolt 3 port, 1x USB Type-C (3.1 Gen 2) port, 2x USB Type-A (3.1 Gen1) ports, 1x HDMI 2.0b (supports 4K/60 Hz), microSDXC reader, 2-in-1 headphone/mic jack, and a 57 Wh battery good for 14 hours of operation.
GPD Win Max is presented with a CNC magnesium alloy cover and an ABS resin enclosure. It looks pretty chunky, but given the number of ports it has to offer, it seems reasonable.
GPD Win Max is official at this point, but it is not listed on the official website, yet. That said, neither price nor the availability is known at this point.
