Newtral Freedom-X Chair

How do you like a chair that you sleep on (that isn’t a bench)? I know what you’re thinking: gaming chairs like Secretlab let you do that. Fair enough, but we’re not here for that. There’s an upcoming chair that lets you sleep, almost fully lie down, and then some. Meet the Newtral Freedom-X.

Newtral Freedom-X Chair

This unique chair lets you lean back and chill out, opens up completely so you can sit cross-legged for meditation, sit backward and use the backrest as a chestrest while painting, or flip up the integrated laptop tray and—get this—sit cross-legged while using your laptop. The laptop tray, which has three adjustable angles, is flanked by a pair of cupholders, completing your “work-on-a-chair” setup.

But that’s not all. When the armrests are completely open, they serve as a convenient pet perch. You can also put down one armrest to create a daybed-style seat, perfect for chilling out while playing guitar, reading a book, or diving into your favorite console game. And yes, when serious work needs to be done at the desk, the Newtral Freedom-X functions as a regular chair, complete with standard height adjustment.

The only potential downside? It doesn’t have a full backrest, which might not appeal to everyone. That said, the chair is crafted with pet-friendly, scratch-resistant fabric (Freedom-X Pro) and sturdy, silent wheels. It’s available in cream and orange. For those preferring vegan leather (Freedom-X Basic), you’ll find two color variations: coffee brown and grey. Just keep in mind that the Basic isn’t as scratch-resistant as the Pro.

The Newtral Freedom-X launches on Kickstarter on December 19, 2024, where you’ll be able to grab the Basic at 43% off for US$199 or the Pro at 36% off for US$249. You can sign up to be notified when the campaign goes live.
