Remember the game-changing targeted audio technology, Noveto Smart Audio? Well, the good news is, it is a confirmed product that will go into production in December and officially launch at CES 2022. And it has got a model name now, called N1.

The not-so-good news is, we will not be seeing the radical designs the Israel company has pitched last year. Don’t get me wrong, the design of the Noveto N1 Smart Speaker is still sleek. It is just that the pitched designs were what I was anticipating and you know how is it like when things do not turn out as anticipated…

Speaking of design, the N1 now looks like a slat with the Bowers & Wilkins vibe. It features an intuitive, glass-fronted, circular LED display mounted on a smooth, matte black aluminum frame and adjustable stand. However, nothing has changed in terms of the technology it has to offer. Actually, there’s an addition.

In addition to the proprietary Smart Beaming technology that promised to provide personal and immersive 3D binaural sound without headphones, the N1 also boasts a built-in Alexa smart assistant. In other words, it has microphones built into it too and in this case, they are high-definition beamforming microphones.

Wireless audio streaming is affordable via Bluetooth and there’s WiFi too. Plus there’s a USB-C port along with a 3.5 mm audio jack for hooking up with a non-Bluetooth source.

Here’s a recap of what the targeted audio technology is about:

“The audio experience is different from traditional speakers or headphones. Noveto’s leading-edge Smart Beaming transmits ultrasound silently through the air, converging in small audible pockets outside the listener’s ears. N1’s smart facial tracking follows the user’s head, ensuring that, as if wearing headphones, the experience is one of thoroughly immersive 3D stereo, while people nearby barely hear a thing.”

Oh, wait. So people around you can still hear something? Hmmm, that’s not good for me. I am easily annoyed by subtle, background chattering, including music. So, I better not be in a room with somebody who is listening to his or her favorite tunes with this device.
