I certainly did not see this collaboration coming. What you see here is a pair of real-life Mario boots. Yes. It’s the kicks of the Italian plumber hero. Celebrating Mario’s leap to the silver screen, shoemaker Red Wing Shoes have partnered with Super Mario Bros. Movie to turn on-screen pixel into a real-life stitch, bringing the boots to life as a one-of-one prototype pair.
The kicks boast durable, high-quality leather and slip-resistant treads offering what the super plumber needs:
“Using legacy methods and innovative materials, Red Wing’s skilled craftspeople have brought some of the magic of the Mushroom Kingdom to real life. Mario’s boots are expertly crafted from Red Wing leather, with a reinforced toe box and a rounded heel. Most importantly, the heel pad is made with state-of-the-art mushroom-infused materials celebrating Mario’s signature abilities.”
Yup. There it is, mushroom-based mycelium heel pads to help power up Mario so he can kick the butts of Bowser and his minions. The boots are a one-off creation to promote the movie. It was revealed on Mario Day (March 10) at Nintendo New York. The boots can be admired in flesh over at Nintendo’s New York store from now through to April.
