The Super Mario Bros. Movie Final Trailer

Unless you have been living inside the Koopa Troopa shell deep in the dungeon of the Bowser Castle, you will know that there is going to be a movie based on the world of Nintendo’s Mario games called, well, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Anyhoo, Illumination has dropped the final trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Final Trailer

Unlike some video game to big screen adaptations that blended animation with live-action acting, this is a wholly animated movie with voice acting by popular stars including Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Keegan-Michael Key, Anya Taylor-Joy, Seth Rogen, and Jack Black. Here are the official words on the movie:

“While working underground to fix a water main, Brooklyn plumbers Mario (Chris Pratt; Jurassic World and The LEGO Movie franchises) and brother Luigi (Charlie Day; It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) are transported down a mysterious pipe and wander into a magical new world. But when the brothers are separated, Mario embarks on an epic quest to find Luigi… With the assistance of a Mushroom Kingdom resident Toad (Keegan-Michael Key; The Lion King) and some training from the strong-willed ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy; The Queen’s Gambit), Mario taps into his own power.”

Also unlike movies of this nature, The Super Mario Bros. Movie integrates elements from the various Mario games, including the iconic side-scroller Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart, into the movie.

We need this ride in Mario Kart!

The film was created by Nintendo with Illumination and co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo. The final trailer was livestreamed in a special presentation on the Nintendo of America YouTube channel on March 09, 2023, at 2 PM PT, hosted by Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo’s Representative Director and Fellow, and the creator of Mario.

The presentation date has special significance because the day and time would be March 10 for some regions, including Japan, and March 10, in short, would Mar. 10 which reads like “MARIO” hence this day became the unofficial Mario Day. So happy Mario Day, folks!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie opens in theaters on April 05, 2023. Skip ahead for the said final trailer and the recorded live presentation video.
