The Fantastic Four: First Steps Official Trailer

When Marvel dropped the teaser for (yet another) reboot of The Fantastic Four, this time titled The Fantastic Four: First Steps, I was hyped. I mean, it’s taking us back to where it all began—the ‘60s! But after watching the official trailer they dropped yesterday, I’ve got to say… I’m kinda disappointed.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Official Poster

Hear me out. We get to see Silver Surfer and the big guy himself, Galactus—the planet-munching boss. But here’s the twist: the Silver Surfer in the trailer isn’t the OG male version, Norrin Radd. Nope. It’s Shalla-Bal, the Empress of Zenn-La, stepping in as Galactus’ herald. And yeah, I know—in alternate storylines, she does become a version of the Silver Surfer, wielding the Power Cosmic and all that. But that’s not the original story.

You see where I’m going with this? If you’re going to make an origin story, make an origin story. I’m not here for multiverse detours or alternate timelines. Just give us the classic crew already.

Marvel, you were so close to nailing it this time. So close. Then again, it’s just a trailer. Maybe there’s more to it. Maybe. But I’m not holding my breath. I might just sit this one out. But that’s just me. Don’t let me think otherwise.
