OnePlus 11 Concept Phone MWC 2023

Concept phone is not common in the phone industry. Probably because it makes little financial sense since a phone isn’t as high value as, say, an automobile. Anyways, here is one concept phone from OnePlus revealed recently at the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona, simply called the OnePlus 11 Concept.

There’s just a star feature on the OnePlus 11 Concept and that’s the new active cooling technology, dubbed Active CryoFlux:

“The state-of-the-art Active CryoFlux functions with the industrial-grade ceramic piezoelectric micropumps at the center, connected to pipelines sandwiched between an upper and lower diaphragm. The micropump takes up an area less than 0.2 cm², enabling the liquid to circulation around the pipelines without significantly increasing a phone’s weight and thickness.”

In other words: do not drop this phone, ever.

Anyhoo, Active CryoFlux is said to be able to reduce temperature up to 2.1°C (35.78 Fahrenheit) and thereby improving the frame rate by 3-4 fps during gameplay.

OnePlus said that this cooling tech can also bring down temperature down to as much as 1.6°C (34.88 Fahrenheit) when charging and as a result, it will reduce 30-45s from charging time.

The Active CryoFlux is essentially a miniaturized industry-grade PC cooling that extends to the camera module, creating a halo of sorts around it. The lens area is further surrounded by Guilloché etching, a process that has been used in making some luxe timepieces, to result in a precise, intricate pattern.

In addition to demonstrating its benefits, the concept phone also shows how Active CyroFlux can boost aesthetics. Indeed. It looks good. It is very futuristic-looking with its glass unibody, deeply curved for a thinner bezel with a side pull-up height of 5.04 mm.

The clear cover, which shows off the micro liquid flowing through the pipelines like the blood of a living creature, is treated with a magnetron-spluttering coating where metal and alloy are deposited in tiny amounts onto the case using an electric field.
