It is a fine line between what is an electric bicycle and what is a moped. A moped is used to refer to a vehicle with both bicycle pedals and a motorcycle engine. But with electric motors, mopeds and electric bicycles are indistinguishable from one another. But whether or not the ONYX CTY2 is an electric bicycle or moped because it looks dope either way.
With a step-through frame design, the ONYX Motorbikes CTY2 does look like the good’ol motor engine mope and that is perhaps why we think it is dope. It is so modern and yet so nostalgic.
The electric motor is paired with a 1,380 Wh battery good for over 60 miles (about 97 kilometers) of range – going at 20 mph (32 km/h) – on a single charge. The battery, which is removable, further features Bluetooth connectivity for monitoring via the ONYX BMS app.
The undisclosed electric motor has enough torque to enable to ride to scale up to a 45-degree slope. The ride is outfitted with heavy-duty full suspension that could handle anything from the tarmac to the desert, and together with electric drive, this moped is going places.
However, beyond what we have written here, it is lacking serious specifications that would justify the US$3,899.69 asking price. Oh, wait. It looks like it has an introductory price of US$3,699.69.
Folks in the industry said it is a competitive price but personally, I beg to differ. If you can get a used car for that price, it ain’t considered cheap. If you know what I mean. But that’s just me. Meanwhile, anyone who is interested can put down their money for one. International shipping is available, btw.
