When I first saw the Oppo Reno 14 F Dark Side Ltd Ed, a.k.a. Oppo Reno14 F Edición Limitada Lado Oscuro [MX], I asked myself, “Why did other regions get such good stuff?” Anyhoo, yes, as you can probably tell from its Latin product name, this is a Latin America exclusive. It was launched last November 2025, with Mexico being the key market. More on this part in a bit. Let’s get into the juicy bits before the disappointment, yeah?

The juicy bits are not so much about the phone, though the Oppo Reno 14 F has been dressed up with an iridescent stereoscopic relief design, featuring Darth Vader’s iconic helmet—a.k.a. the symbol of the dark side (and the dude who lost a game of “the floor is lava”). It has a sleek black finish and a shifting red glow that is reminiscent of the many times the Sith Lord walks past some red glows.
The phone, though not in the deep, glossy black like Vader’s armor, exudes a sense of dark force. The back is finished with a glossy Star Wars logo, serving as a contrast to the predominantly matte phone. A red power button and the presence of the “© and ™ Lucasfilm Ltd.” markings complete the design of this collectible phone.
That’s just the phone. The real meat for fans is in the package. The device comes packaged in a huge box with a cover featuring line art of the work-in-progress Death Star II, and prominent Star Wars branding in the center, in black, against a striking red background. The Death Star II graphic is bordered, with each corner sporting the Imperial Crest.
The box has a center-opening design and opens like double doors to reveal an inner cover featuring an ultra-close-up view of the inside of the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the Death Star II, and the silhouette of the epic confrontation between father and son, along with a plaque bearing a unique number. Yes, it has a limited run, with an edition number of 25,583 units worldwide.
Also in the package is a 45 W charging brick featuring a Darth Vader helmet graphic, a Darth Vader helmet SIM ejector/pendant (yes, it doubles as a pendant!), and the golden boy of the package: a Death Star II phone stand. The phone comes placed in molded packaging that looks like the interior of the “That’s no moon” sequel. Also in the package is a matching red charging cable with Vader’s headshot on the Type-A end, a transparent case with very cool packaging featuring an image of Darth Vader, and documentation.

On the software side, it is also Imperial-approved, with animations of Darth Vader’s helmet, wallpapers of iconic battles, and more. As for the phone, it is the Reno 14 you already know (but we failed to feature, dang it). Anyhoo, it is a thin and light device, measuring 7.78 mm and weighing 180 g. It features a bunch of AI functionality—without having to scream aloud that it is AI-enabled, unlike some other brands or models—like Party Flash AI and AI Editor, for example.
However, this is no powerhouse. It is an entry-level phone with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC featuring an octa-core processor, an Adreno 710 @ 676 MHz GPU, LPDDR4X RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. So if you want this device, you would probably be prepared for Star Wars blaster-bolt kind of speed, if you know what I mean.
Moving on… fronting the device is a 6.57-inch AMOLED flexible display, boasting FHD+ (2,372 × 1,080 resolution), a 120 Hz refresh rate, a 240 Hz touch sampling rate, and a modest 600 nits typical brightness. It does have HBM, which can boost the brightness to 1,400 nits. The display is home to an AF 32 MP selfie camera with a wide 90° field of view.
Around the back, there is a tri-camera setup comprising a 50 MP wide-angle camera (79° FoV) with AF and 2-axis OIS, an 8 MP ultra-wide (112° FoV), and a 2 MP macro camera (89° FoV) with AF. It is IP69 rated, giving it a solid level of protection against dust and water ingress. The durability is not limited to dust and water resistance. The phone further touts “full armor” ultra-resistant protection against accidental drops during your battle with the Jedi. When it comes to making regular phones tougher than they really are, Oppo is a champ.
Other spec sheet details include a 6,000 mAh battery with 45 W SuperVOOC, in-screen fingerprint unlock, facial recognition support, dual-SIM (nano) support, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and earlier dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1 LE, USB-C, and the usual sensors and positioning systems. The device runs Android with ColorOS 15 overlay. It is available in 12 GB + 256 GB.
Now for the good news. The Oppo Reno14 F Edición Limitada Lado Oscuro did not fly off the shelves—it probably would if it had a stronger chipset for this price. It is still available on Amazon Mexico for 11,998.80 pesos [MX], which is about US$673, based on the going rate.
