Artist Joshua Vides is best known for doing the extreme opposite of hyperrealistic arts and drawings. In other words, he turn what’s real into drawings. His latest work is something unexpected, though. It’s a phone. An Oppo smartphone, to be more precise.

The China phone maker has teamed up with Joshua for the Oppo Reno5 Pro+ Artist Limited Edition. Do not confuse the Oppo Reno5 Pro+ with the previously released Reno5 Pro. This one here is a true flagship.

Well, kind of because, it is still powered by Qualcomm’s last-gen flagship chip, Snapdragon 865 with octacore processor (up to 2.8 GHz), paired to Adreno 650 587 MHz GPU, LPDDR4x 2133 MHz RAM and UFS 3.1 2Lanes HS-Gear4 storage.

With the Oppo Reno5 Pro+ Artist Limited Edition, Joshua’s unique “Reality to Idea” creative concept is applied to the back of the device. Save for the camera bump, the entire phone looked like a doodle. Very unique.

Joshua’s touch is not limited to the back cover. It has gimmick of its own too. A slight knock on the back cover will trigger two things: two animated hearts merging together on the screen and the entire center portion of the back cover will turn blue in color. Snazzy.

Beyond that, Vides’ touches can be found on the packaging as well as the document sleeve too. Unfortunately, the included earphones and power brick do not get the same doodle treatment.
