Fans of Japanese mecha culture—especially those who love LEGO-style brick-built sets—rejoice, because one of the OGs of the mecha genre, Mazinger Z, has been given the plastic brick treatment! Thanks to Chinese plastic brick toy maker Pantasy, we now have not one, not two, but three Mazinger Z sets featuring the legendary super robot that debuted in the early 1970s.
There’s the cutaway brick-built figure Mechanical Mazinger Z, the Mazinger Z Bust, and the Mazinger Z Mini Mecha for fans who have a soft spot for chibi mecha. And yes, they are officially licensed by Go Nagai/Dynamic Planning.
Mechanical Mazinger Z Buildable Figure

Pantasy uses 2,000 pieces to recreate the iconic Japanese super robot, which stands an impressive 38 cm tall (15 inches) and 38.1 cm wide with the Jet Scrander’s wings attached. But this isn’t just any brick-built Mazinger Z [CH]—it’s a cutaway, posable model that will leave anime geeks thrilled (or is that just me?). The entire right side—except for the head and jetpack—reveals the super robot’s “inner workings.”
It gets better. While it can’t fire a Koushiryoku Beam or unleash Breast Fire, Pantasy managed to recreate Rocket Punch and Missile Punch. You can literally pose it mid-attack with the mecha fist flying off its right arm, thanks to Technic-style cross axles and fire effect parts. Even Mazinger Z’s belly missile launch bay has been recreated, complete with a buildable missile.
The Jet Scrander is removable, as is the Hover Pilder, which is a specially molded part that docks onto the head just like in the anime. In a cool little detail, the Hover Pilder can be displayed flying in mid-air, simulating Koji Kabuto’s dramatic entry. Speaking of Koji, this set comes with a chibi-style minifigure of the hero, specially developed for this release. A buildable stand with the Mazinger Z logo and a display plaque completes the package.
Mazinger Z Bust

Meanwhile, the Mazinger Z Bust [CH] is—well, just the head. No shoulders, no torso—just a gloriously detailed recreation of the super robot’s noggin. It includes a removable Hover Pilder and an adorable Koji Kabuto figure. You can dock the craft, display it separately, or even have it “hover” using transparent elements. And here’s a fun twist: when the Hover Pilder is removed, the head doubles as a pen holder. Now that’s practical mecha innovation! The Mazinger Z Bust packs 800+ pieces and, when completed, measures a respectable 21 cm tall and 12 cm wide (8.3 x 4.7 inches). Like LEGO’s buildable helmets, it comes with a stand featuring the Mazinger Z logo.
Mazinger Z Mini Mecha

Finally, for those who love all things chibi, there’s the Mazinger Z Mini Mecha [CH]. With just 300 elements, it may be small, but it certainly doesn’t skimp on details. When completed, this 14.8 cm tall and 10 cm (6 by 4 inches) wide Q-style Mazinger Z features a removable Hover Pilder, a detachable Jet Scrander, and even removable forearms with fists to recreate Rocket Punch (though, sadly, no effect parts to make them look airborne). But let’s be real—the real draw here is that it’s ridiculously adorable.
